Holy F@ck, 5AM StoryTalk Just Published Its 200th Article!
I find it hard to believe myself, but this arts newsletter has reached this milestone in less than a year
5AM StoryTalk hasn’t been around for even a year yet, but this week I published its 200th story. I’m not even sure how that’s possible given the fact that I wrote all but a handful of them, but there you go. I write a lot. Maybe too much.
I need help.
Anyway.
To commemorate this achievement, I thought I’d share this bonus feature with all of my subscribers. First up is a list of pay-what-you-can discount codes for you to use to upgrade to a paid membership. These will only be active for one week. Following that is a list of twenty key arts articles that I believe are ideal ways for new readers to better understand what I’m trying to do here at 5AM StoryTalk.
As always, thank you so much for reading my work here at Substack. My only agenda here is art and, in this regard, I aspire to both edify and inspire. Hopefully something here helps you on your own creative journey, whether that’s validating you and your struggles or providing you with useful tools, resources, and new ways to think about storytelling. And if you’re not an artist yourself, just an art lover, I’m no less glad to have you. I’m writing this Substack for you, too.
UPGRADE TO A PAID MEMBERSHIP WITH DISCOUNT CODES
The philosophy of 5AM StoryTalk has never wavered since it was launched last year; this is a place for everyone to talk about storytelling and its part in our lives. It’s why I keep most of the newsletter free. But, guys, did you catch that part where I said I’ve written 200 articles in under a year? I hope you understand that takes a lot of time and effort. So, in order to keep as much of 5AM StoryTalk as possible for the dreamers, please consider upgrading to a paid membership if you have the resources to do so and haven’t yet. This support keeps these articles showing up in your inbox.
If you can’t afford a monthly membership, consider buying me a one-off coffee, which would be all kinds of great, too.
As for those discount codes I promised, I’ve long been frustrated that Substack doesn’t let me have more control over what I charge for paid memberships. To get around this and to empower you to make the financial decision right for you, I periodically share codes and invite readers to upgrade using a pay-what-you-can system. In other words, here are some discounts. Choose the one that’s appropriate to your financial situation.
10% off monthly and yearly subscriptions
20% off monthly and yearly subscriptions
30% off monthly and yearly subscriptions
60% off yearly subscriptions for students/faculty (you’ll need an email address from an educational institution for this)
Two more things:
On occasion, it is necessary to unsubscribe from your free membership to subscribe using one of them. Sorry, this is Substack’s quirk, not mine.
If you can’t afford a paid membership of any kind, consider using this code to recommend 5AM SToryTalk to your friends on social media. As soon as three people you know subscribe for free, you start earning months of comp’d paid subscription. This is what I would call a win-win for us both.
20 ARTICLES TO UNDERSTAND 5AM STORYTALK
This list is a combination of some of the most popular articles 5AM StoryTalk has published, some of the ones that seemed to matter the most to readers, and some of the ones that mattered the most to me. If you’re new to this newsletter and looking for some of the best of the best to familiarize yourself with what’s happening here, this is list is for you. If you enjoy any of them, please don’t hesitate to share them here or elsewhere.
