5AM StoryTalk Reflections: My Favorite Stories of 2024
The twelve essays, articles, and artist-on-artist interviews that meant the most to me to write this past year...
Happy New Year! 5AM StoryTalk will be back in full swing in a few days, beginning with a preview of what to expect from this arts newsletter in 2025 (exciting changes!). Before that, I wanted to ring in the new year by sharing my twelve favorite essays, articles, and artist-on-artist interviews that I wrote here this past year.
This was no simple compilation to assemble either; I published close to 300 times at Substack during this period.
My reasoning for doing this is simple: I’m about to launch the next year/iteration of 5AM StoryTalk, so I wanted to precede that with a look back at my work here that, for wholly personal reasons, meant the most to me. These aren’t necessarily my best work here, to be clear. Merely the highlights that brought me the most satisfaction as an artist, a storyteller, and an art lover.
Thanks for being here throughout 2024. This Substack would be nothing without you!
If anything you read here adds to your life but you’re not up for a paid subscription, consider buying me a “coffee” so I can keep as much of this newsletter free as possible for the dreamers who couldn’t afford it otherwise.

Thanks for the compilation. There are a few older ones I haven’t read!
I appreciate that these are *your* favorites not ones by top likes, views, blah whatever
