I'm actually very surprised I don't get more B&W submissions. Almost as surprised by how few sub/urban contributions I get compared to ones of nature and skies. Also, how few photos I get of people in any way. In some way, it's a sociological education for me about what people find beautiful. Please, keep your pics coming because, A, I think they're beautiful and, B, I think we need more than just nature in this series!
Will keep this in consideration for a future photo. We should make it to Sighetu Marmației soon, I have something in mind that I often pass, but have never taken a picture of.
Please do, Cheryl, but I would say try not to be so precious about it. I'm going to share a call for photos in a couple hours on Notes, for example. This isn't about the best photo, but a random moment of beauty that inspired you in some way. A flyer taped to a pole, some graffiti, a frog on a lily pad. No rules except how you experience beauty! The photos you've already shared were exactly that - and quite lovely. Thank you for your snowy contribution this month!
Such an uplifting collection again. What a wonderful world, indeed... Thank you - to everyone who took the photos, too! And the Glyn Lehmann piece is just gorgeous.
Truly beautiful and inspirational. The Wisdom of Trees was a perfect accompaniment and its haunting melody was healing after a long, somewhat stressful day. Thank you!
A real treat to hear my music as the soundtrack to this wonderfully diverse collection of photos, Cole. Thank you for reaching out to me with this idea. This kind of collaboration shows the benefits and potential of the Substack community.
Also, the music you included is a nice touch (especially knowing it was composed by someone you know here on Substack), and also beautiful. Thank you for introducing us to his music.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm going to try to incorporate Glyn and some other musicians in the future. Had nobody mentioned it, I might not have gone to more of the same effort.
Thank you for featuring my fog photograph, Cole! As always, I am honored to have a photo I made considered beautiful or inspirational among so many others. And as always, I’m inspired by the other photographs you share, including yours. I always enjoy looking through the collection each month.
Yes, I selfishly include one of my own; the privilege of being the editor - ha! Thank you for another stunning contribution. This one really took my breath away. They don’t all have to do that, of course, but yours is definitely what my mother would’ve called “a keeper”.
I don’t at all see it as selfish to include one of your own photos each month. Makes sense to me, seeing as you’re the reason the monthly series exists… seeing as you started the whole thing with your own pursuit of beauty.
Some of these images from people I have never met are more personal to me than I expected they would be. Places I love, have been, here shared and captured at a time when it feels like we lose a little more of everything we know and love each day. It was a bit overwhelming.
Tears actually welled after seeing some of them. They fill an empty place. Thank you.
I hope you know I mean this in the best possible way, but I'm so glad to read this. It's why I'm curating this series. It's my small way of fighting back against everything at this point in history (though not my only way). Please come back and share your own moments of beauty with us. In fact, I shared my most recent call for photos yesterday. It's not for professionals; it's for everyone to just share what moved them on any random day! https://substack.com/@colehaddon/note/c-80526376?utm_source=notes-share-action&r=1mimd1
Wonderful collection once again. What an amazing planet.
Indeed!
Thank you for including me on day 2. I really appreciate it! I recognize that I am an outlier. One of only two b+w photographs. Thank you very much.

Thank you so much, Andrea. I'm so glad this series continues to speak to people. And don't start sharing your beauty with us, too!
Truly beautiful and inspirational. The Wisdom of Trees was a perfect accompaniment and its haunting melody was healing after a long, somewhat stressful day. Thank you!
I'm so glad it affected you in any way, Sally!

Absolutely, Glyn. And thank you for being so willing to collaborate by sharing your beautiful music with my readers!

Thank you, beautifully curated!
Thank you for your stunning contribution, Cato!
Thanks for including my pic! This collection really reminds you to look at the little things.
And thanks for your wonderful contribution, Ynon!
Uplifting and thought-provoking. So many kinds of beauty in the world, wonderfully captured.
I'm so glad to hear it spoke to you in any way!
This is a beautiful collection, as always. Looking through these pictures enables a moment of quiet contemplation. Thank you.
I'm glad it continues to speak to you, Lou. Also, thank you again for your lovely contribution!

In a very visual world, these showcase all that is wonderful. I loved this. It's so uplifting.
I'm glad it added to your life in any way, Jon!
Thanks Cole! Love this series. Lots of windows onto other worlds.
Thanks for your wonderful contribution!
Thank you...proof there's beauty all around
They're most certainly is!
Thanks for including me Cole! Reading one of these feels like paging through one of my parents old National Geographics

I will gladly accept that comparison - mostly because I had almost as little to do with this photo collection as I do anything in NG!

Words appreciated. I feel grateful to find our small spaces. Will do!
