From 'Happy Valley' to 'Killing Eve', I've curated a collection of some of the BBC's best first episodes of drama TV to help in your screenwriting education
One small correction: Joe Barton's show is Giri / Haji (really easy to mistake the final 'i' in Giri for an 'L' in sans-serif fonts, particularly when very small). I watched it on Netflix and thought it was Girl until I started watching it!
Hi Oli, thanks for that. It was a typo, and it's always great to clean them up. I know Joe. In fact, he's an upcoming guest in my artist-on-artist conversation series -- for the audio podcast side of things. Keep an eye out for it!
It was so masterful, I actually stopped watching at that point. I reached the end of the season and quickly concluded, "Yep, it will never get better than this." Then walked away. I did the same thing with THE HANDMAID'S TALE. I've learned not to ruin my experiences that way, right or wrong. Happy holidays!
Interview with Mr. Mercuriooo!!! Thaaanks! (sorry, cannot NOT fanboying about him. Master storyteller, and his BBC writing course is one of the best ever)
