I’m not sure if this week’s question requires that much explanation. In fact, I worry if I give you too much direction, I might inhibit the variety of answers I receive.
Which fictional character would you most like to have dinner with (and why)?
Your answer can come from a novel, a film, a TV series, a comic book - as long as it’s a piece of fiction. In all cases, I’d like to know what inspired your choice and what you’d hope to get out of your encounter.
My answer isn’t going to presume there’s only one answer to this question. But it’s the answer I’m going to give you, cheeky as it might be: Hannibal Lecter from Bryan Fuller’s “Hannibal” TV series. Not because I feel like being cannibalized or want to know what it’s like to dine on human flesh or anything quite so morbid. I just think the conversation would make for an intellectually stimulating evening. I’d love to hear his thoughts on Donald Trump’s psychopathy, for example. Oh, and obviously, his wine collection is legendary.
Lisa Simpson. We have much in common: intelligence, culture, not suffering fools, and dealing with a world in which we seem out of place.
Withnail.
